Pardon my sarcasm. We are involved in the enhancement of our business through photo contests on a regular basis.
And yes, they want the rights to the picture(s) once you have submitted them and signed a release for them.
It is a cheap way for the company to get free photos to use for their advertising.
It also is a way to promote our business as we get credit for the pic(s) and usually about $2500-$10000 in prizes.
I am not suggesting such a grand scheme of prize pooling, just keeping you informed of why I am such a happy camper.
And I still will add to your "contest"

you have to realize the scope of things right now.. we're a free site, with negative cashflow... we have to start somewhere, and when I say a prominent place on the site, I'm not talking advertising, I'm talking something everyone here is going to see not just everytime they enter the site, but ALL the time, while perusing the pages....

I wrote the announcement about 5 times trying to use the words, "wanted: pictures", but I couldn't illicit, with such statement, the quality of the picture I'm looking for.

I only want links, because of the size of the pictures I'm looking for... photobucket will automatically reduce the size of the picture unfortunately.

I'll update the rules with an e-mail addy so people can e-mail the pics to me, and I'll host them.
