2005 Has Arrived
#1
As the title says, we have received our first 2005 Foci today. A ZX4 and ZXW. It was the first time I had seen them in person. I don't mind the exterior as much as the interior. But I have a feeling sales will be a bit better because they are fresh and the price on the one is very attractive considering all the standard options.

If anyone wants pics I will try and take some toady, but really I think we all know what they look like........... unfortunately.

Yeah.

I looked at one up close at the ACC the other day.

Not too impressed to tell you the truth.

They have officially made it an old lady's car. They took out all of the nice lines the car used to have.
At least the older ones had some style to them.

The interior looks like ass and I'm not sure I'm feeling the hard edged square look they are pimping with the look of the car.

The interior of the older focii was the best part of the whole damn car.... Why did they change it to look like the interior of the Civic?

Two thumbs down for me.

Yup... looks like ass indeed. Buhbye SVT too, and that nice 170HP Zetec.

I'll probably keep my Focus for the better half, buy a SVT for myself in a year or two from the 2004 run, and call it a day till I figure out how many rugrats we're going to have :P

I think it looks great; more euro styling for the NA market! The interior is a little drab, but the new front end is very nice, very mondeo.

All the need now is the PZEV in the hatch and they'll be onto somthing.

My dealer has the following:

- ZX4 SES
- ZXW SE

To be honest, the whole nomenclature deal is getting very tacky. WAY too many letters tacked onto that rear sedan. "FOCUS SES"....then "ZX4". Anyone recall the old Mazdas e.g. MX6 Mystere LS, 626 Cronos ES V6? At least shrink down one of them...yeesh!

I was really surprised to see that the ZX4 SES is basically the ZTS with 16-inch rims and available with an automatic. Last we were told the 16-inch rims were only an ST option. I didn't have time to drive it, but I might go back one weekend to see what the new 2.0L (non-PZEV) is like.

I'm still not fond of the front end. For some reason, it works on a wagon. But it looks now as if the front end has been pinched...bleh. Interior...It actually looks a lot better than when I sat in the pre-production version back in January. However, it looks very mis-matched with new/old gen parts intermixed.

It's honestly too bad to see this bland design coming out now. Ford does have some nice stuff coming in the very near future...

I saw my first 2005 last Sunday and went back Tuesday evening to have a closer look. Overall, I personally like the car, although Ford could have done a better job with the interior. The exterior changes are subtle, and the car is slightly rounded off! What impressed me was the fact that, according to the salesperson I talked to, was that Ford has supposedly addressed the premature brakewear issue. Also, they have dumped those cheap Goodyear Integrity tires that don't last worth a s***! The standard tire in now 15 inch Goodyear Eagles on steel rims. Unfortunately, the 2.0 Litre S.P.I. engine is gone, and according to the person I talked to, the only engine will be the ZTEC engine. I had one of those S.P.I. engines in my Escort and in my Focus. I think the unit is more than adequate power and is very economical, especially on the highway! I was also told that the PZED engine wouldn't be available in Canada. :( I have a 2002 that I'm more than happy with, but I do trade my cars every three or so years, just because I like having a new car all the time, and it's possible for me to do that! I was going to start to look in the spring of 2005, with the intension of getting something new in early 2006, And I was thinking of maybe upscaling to maybe the new 500. Not now! Come spring, 2005, I'll more than likely grab a new ZX4 equivalent to the ZTS, complete with moon roof! Not sure about leather seats though! Count me as one of the minority who likes the 2005!

I just picked up the 2005 ST ZX4 last night and I am really impressed. I have never driven one before so I really have no basis on what to compare it to. I really like the new front. a lot less "Wedgy" then previous years. The heated leather seats are a nice touch.

I've had mine since May, its great. I did the dealer trade myself and just the difference between the ZXW and the ST is huge!! I have driven a few since then and none of the other new models (in stock form) compare. The only model I haven't driven is an older SVT.
