Can a transit van get around the nurburgring in under 10 minutes?
find out here
I can do it in about 9 minutes on Gran Tourismo 4 with my Ford GT... barely... this speaks volumes about conversion vans and competent drivers..

(EDIT: Oh well same idea, turbos diesels rock and it may be only 150HP or whatever it was but I bet it has gobs or torque and a power band like a dining table. That chick kicks ass. She'd have done it on better tires and speaking of rubber................... )

Can you imagine being anyone, ANYONE on that track that day, and being passed by that? wouldn't you feel like crap?
That was a good episode. I remember it. Both JC in the Jag and her in the van. Both good eps.
I love the Nurburgring.

I almost want one. But I don't want stickers/decals on my car.

Link is again alive now. 9 minutes in a Ford GT? Wanna race? :P

I'm always up for a race in GT4....
but it's funny, because I can almost go around the track faster in a slower car than in a fast car... the license test where you had to take that over-roided MB around the track was brutal.. can't even touch the grass without failing the test, took me quite a few tries doing that one.
Unfortunately GT4 isn't well engineered for the old logitech wheels (which I have).. so everything is super twitchy at speed.

I haven't found a wheel that is any better than the hand controller. Maybe the $200 wheel is better?
With not too much power and excellent handling the Corvette Z06 is good for under 7min.

the new wheel has 2.5 turns lock to lock. so yeah, it would be a much better controller (less twitchy on initial turn in for sure)... I was tempted, but I'll wait for GT 5 on the PS3 and whatever controller they have. The logitechs originally sold for about $200, and I've gotten a fair bit of use out of both of mine.
And I have done a lap in under 6 minutes with a GT car.
