Never Know Who's Reading

I bought a new snowmobile this year got it home went to start it and the starter blew up. This is a big job on a new four stroke model so Bluetoy posted the trouble on hardcoresledder.com and got a few reponses. Got home tonight and there was a message from my dealer saying that Polaris had been monitoring the site and was now very aware of the problem I was having. Bluetoy got home and phoned me right away when low and behold he had a PM from a high ranking manager from polaris wanting him to phone him. Being my sled I phoned, this guy was super helpfull and very forthcoming with information. Needless to say no fix for my sled with .3 miles on it, new one on the way. Got to love the internet and bosses that monitor stuff that concerns them.
WOW 50 posts!!!! Darkpuppet do I win a prize or something???? :)

That is VERY cool. Companies should learn from this one!

Cool. I've only heard of a few companies being this good about something. One of which is Antec, they had a few problems with cases, and shipped replacements for some people as fast as overnight, no charge.

Very cool of Polaris.

I imagine they also want the sled back, to see what happened, so they can prevent it, or see if it'll be a huge problem, recall, etc.. find out how much it'll cost 'em heh.

This is true, a lot of workers in my company (RCI & Fido Solutons) frequent internet message boards such as HOFO and we reada lot of customer rants about their internet, or their cable tv or their cellular service probelms and tell them how we can rectify their problem if it is recticfiable.. I'd say for the most part, I've helped 90% of peoples complaints and problems from there..

Nothing. The number of people that use this or any other Forum is really just a drop in the bucket to overall sales volume. Plus how many people here keep their cars factory stock, any modification would taint any sort of information they would gain.

Still it's nice to see that your sled issue was resolved, gives you a little faith in industry.
I have a few cars.

One for my dog.
One that has no roof.
One that looks good parked at the golf course.
One that is being rebuilt by a guy named Nero..... will it ever be done?

Couldn't you have just taken it back to the dealer that day or the next and told them 'No thanks, I'll get a Yamaha instead'?

That's what I'd do.

I helped my parents chose a new ATV last summer. We looked at everything. They wanted to go with a Polaris or Cat at first. They offered a few gimicky features for a few hundred bucks less.

But given I know a lot about manufacturing, I was NOT impressed. Things I noticed, the welds on the suspension members were garbage, all undercut and not enough filler. They used the same type of hose we are forced to sell sometimes, because it's cheap, and it sucks. And way too much plastic for my liking.

I was relieved when they bought a nice Yamaha Grizzly 660 Silvertip. Nice machine!

A guy here at work is a Cat fan, always has cat sleds. But his motors always let go around 5000 miles, which I think is rediculous. Get a damn Skidoo or Yamaha already!

Or just save your cash and not buy something that you don't need!

It's worse than a sports car... at least you can be crazy and drive the sports car in the winter! Good luck driving a snowmobile in the summer!

If he's collecting them as a hobby, then he's spending untold thousands.

It's a worse hobby than hockey or anything else that actually gets you some exercise... even reading exercises the mind!

It's excess, just like 6 bedroom houses, Cadillacs, and my glorious home theatre. All of which listed above can be enjoyed year-round, at least.

That's MY view. It's a hobby with an asset that depreciates in value, requires extensive upkeep and insurance, and can only be enjoyed for a few months out of the year at that. It's a waste, and that's my opinion.

My collections, on the other hand, will ultimately appreciate. I already have them insured, and they require very little in upkeep besides a lukewarm room.

It's almost as bad as parking the Focus... at least you can pull the insurance off it for the winter. Well, that came out wrong. I know sleds and 4-wheelers can be insured seasonally.

It's not necessary to have one in order to get around. This isn't Nunavut. Even a motorcycle is flexible enough to take you wherever you want to go (not bound to trails) and you don't need a trail pass for a bike in order to be able to take it out of your driveway.

Sorry Nate, you're not winning this one. Skidoos and to a lesser extent 4-wheelers are just a waste of cash.

The opportunity to deny warranty work due to modifying the vehicle. Everyone knows NightShit ™ is the leading cause of DPFE failure, broken suspension springs and fuel pump problems.

Your trying to tell me your computer stuff will increase in value? Your doll stuff will give you excersice? Your kidding me right?

YOU waste your money on pointless mods like s2 suspension and nightshit, how can you come off saying skidoos are waste of money and its extensive?

Have you ever been sledding? In a powerful one at that? There isnt much that compares to driving fast in the snow on sled, its quite a rush, more than hanging out playing doom being scared shitless of a computer game  . Not even awd turbo cars can compare to going full blown in a trail with trees jumps and such....

If you ever been on ANY trails that are deep into the woods, youd know there was a TOTALLY different community out there. Restuaraunts, business's, out in the middle of the woods that support this sport.

Its not a matter of me winning or not...not even close, its you being an ass with those kind of statements, simple as that. 90% of this board could say you waste your money on stoopid things to, dont act like your the bomb because u think enjoying a winter sport is a waste of money.

EDIT: WTF does parking the focus have anythign to do with this? I know what I do to my Ford focus is a waste of money(In others eyes....That goes for the rest of this site to). But I enjoy wasting my money on my car and want to enjoy that for as long as I can. Wether its me enjoying working on a car that I love driving or watching midget porn, it really isnt any of your business what I enjoy spending my hard earned money on.
