How "mod Friendly" Is Your Dealership?
#1
So how forgiving is your dealership when it comes to performance mods?

I went in 2 weeks ago to ask my service manager how he felt about a custom tune in my car. He told me to go look at his car in the service bay....walk over and see his brand new XCal II downloading a tune on his drivers seat of his 05 GT Stang. I say so I assume that its okay? He says if there's any problems we'll work around it. Best part was after words he let me take his car for a spin! Awsome!!!

Dixie ford told me that my mods... intake exhaust. could have caused stress on my clutch, thus breaking it

I told them about the UDP and shorter belt, and they're being fair and charging me what they would charge for a standard crank pulley replacement - 1 hour, 50 bucks plus tax.

They've also quoted on the susp. install and an alignment, seems decent. 400 all in.

Bay Ford Lincoln is in the middle to good range, no problems with what I have done to my car and darkpuppet has taken his beast there too. One of the salesmen is/was a FC member (shineyblueescort). My car is known there as the "fancy" Focus.

My dealer knows I have lowering springs, swapped bulbs, fogs, and added a stereo...they thought it was cool to see a modified 2005...

on the whole... dealers are ok with lighter stuff... things that don't change the mechanical stuff too much... ie lowering springs, cai.. i have yet to ask here what a tune would do... its not the stock calibrations so that might change thier opinion on things... not that i have much to worry... i only have 10km to go

My dealership hates my guts. They have seen everything, from my nitrious to my cf front end. I am not really someone they want to work with anymore. They snapped a led tube under my car putting it on the hoist, and I raised s**t only to come out empty handed

Huh?

Aren't we talking about mod friendly dealerships? Like how does your dealership deal with warranty and aftermarket parts?

I'm not exactly my dealer's best friend, but we deal with eachother, I raise a stink if something doesn't go thru under warranty, and its all covered in the end.

My dealer put on my UDP, plus they also suggested my front end :D

Plus, there was a Focus owner I met a few times. He had SHM do a fairly hefty setup in the early days. I remembered my dealer was trying to figure out a noise, on top of the exhaust and headers.

Most of the times, it comes down to who you know in the dealer, especially the techs and service folks. If you're on their good side and they are passionate about cars, they will most likely try to do as much as they can (within reason) to help you out :)

I asked them to install it, and it's costing me no more than what it would cost to have another stock pulley that I have on hand to install.

What's confusing?

Oh, NM, I get it... I'm out of warranty now. I can't wait to see their faces when it goes in for the UDP and the instrument cluster is different and almost 30K lower in mileage :D

The dealership I bought the car from (Campbell) put up a stink EVERYTIME I went in. Even if no aftermarket part COULD have caused the symptoms, they always worded it so they did.....

The dealership I deal with now (Soucy) is amazing. They never denied me warranty work ever. Now Im out of it :(

"Damn, your car is a rocket" as he throws me the keys. :D

You go to dixie that sucks I yelled at all the service employies there. I really hate nelson. If you have a SVT the better dealership is Summit Ford on hwy 27. If you want good service go to sheridan Ford Dixie and Lakeshore Very Very Good I have a SVT and I get my oil changed there, and Questiones answered.

Colony Ford has been really good to me with all the issues I had with mods I didn't know about on the car I have, they repairs the Hella's more then 4 times, and were totally cool about everything else.

Bramview ford was another story, I bought my car used and I got into a heated argument with him saying how a ford dealership would never actively sell a modded car on their lot, then blamed me for the problem I came into get serviced for. I have not returned to them since.

Concept Ford - sold me my car with all its problems at the time then down played it, when ever Colony calls them to find out more on my car they give them the run around.
I was the only member on this board with a Yellow Focus Sedan, and a 2002+ Euro Facelift on a sedan.

Dude, theres nothing different to install a smaller pulley than a stock pulley, ya damn rights it better be the same price.

All I was doing was complementing them... they could have been like K OS's dealer and said that anything would void the warranty or refused to work on it.

I think the techs get a kick out of it, personally. A strut bar, chromed intake and cone filter, tinted everything and a MBRP cat-back.

Like I said, I can't wait to see what they say when they see the new cluster :)
