Spark Plugs
#1
I have a 2000 ZX3. I want to get better than factory spark plugs. Let me know what my options are, where I can get them, and how much do they cost. Thank you.

to be honest, you're not going to see any improvement over stock plugs unless you're FI (and then you need 1 step colder).

better to save the money and just replace with stock platinums.

You could go under the hood of your car.

What he is saying is that the stock plugs are platinum tipped and good for well over 100,000km.

ngk PTR5A-13. Any performance shop can get them, but not canadian tire. They are the same idea as the motorcraft ones, they're just prettier.

ps. Don't forget to gap them; use a feeler type gapping tool, the dial ones are hoplessly inaccurate.

I'm not sure if Crappy tire has 'em, but that's just a phone call away...

do you have an aversion to the dealership? When I deal with the parts guy directly he gives me everything dirt cheap... (my 1 step colder plugs set me back $12)

I thought we would have secured their depot of oil filters to help stabilize filter prices...

Cantire won't have plug for you car, you will have to go to performance shop(NGK) or dealer(motorcraft P or colder) or Walmart in the state(autolite). Stock gap should be .051, but anywhere between .051 to .054 is fine. My suggestion is don't use colder plug w/out FI.

What's FI? what do you mean by colder?
I replaced my motorcraft platinums with Bosch Platinum +4. So far so good.
