The idea of weapons in space isnt really about alien defense, is it? The US wants to have weapons in orbit so they have the scare tactic of "I'll press this button and lasers will destroy you" in the case of any "bad" country trying to step out of line. I guess that could be advantageous sometime, but for the amount of money that it would require to put weapons in space we could probably feed all of the starving people in our own countries.

I know I dont want any of my tax dollars going to research/building space weapons when I'm watching local news stories about poverty.

Proof positive that the Liberals have nothing resembling a plan to deal with the real problems in Canada but are deflecting people from the gaping holes by coming up with gimmicks like this.

Paul Martin wants to be remembered in the same breath as Lester Pearson obviously and he's halfway there Like Pearson he can't win a majority government either :D
