In there long winded speech to us yesterday, they mentioned the success Ford had overseas with deisel powered cars.
They also mentioned their lack of thought and pursuit of the Mercury line. If they bring these ideas forward and put Mercury back in Canada, then I'll have more hope for the company.
TEAM PITA Don't settle for a wannabe, only accept the real deal.
One day I will rule the world. For now, I have to settle for this place.

Ford has to learn how to market that line way better since Mercury is veiwed alot like the dying/dead Buick line as an "old man car" even though lately they've had kick ass cars like the Murauder and Cougar :D

When Bobbie Gaunt was president (at the time they closed the Mercury franchise) she wanted to continue importing Mercury vehicles but branded with the Ford oval (like they do in Mexico, eg: Ford Grand Marquis) ... but Ford U.S. wouldn't let her. Importing some of the Mercury models such as the Milan would be a real bonus for car buyers, but chances are you won't see it happen because Ford of Canada barely has enough marketing budget to promote the Ford brand. At the end of the day all it will really do is dilute the sales of the facing Ford model (can you say Taurus and Sable) ... which is why the Mercury franchise was cancelled here in the first place. Ford of Canada's priority right now has to be to get a good "B" car and that doesn't exist in the Mercury lineup.
