Ont. Minimum Wage Gets A Raise
#1
as of Feb 1st The minimum wage in Ontario is increasing by 30 cents an hour.

That takes the general minimum wage to $7.75 an hour.

It's the third increase since the Liberals took office in 2003, when the minimum wage was $6.65.

The government plans to hike the rate to eight dollars by this time next year.

There are, however, different levels of minimum wages.

The minimum for students under 18, who are employed for no more than 28 hours a week, will rise to $7.25 an hour from $6.95 .

Liquor servers' wages will increase to $6.75 an hour from $6.50.

next year it will go up to $8.00 an hour.

When I joined the Navy in 1984 I got paid $32 a day regardless of how many hours I worked and it was usually more than 8 that is for sure. I did get "three hots and a cot" (3 meals & a place to sleep) as a bonus.

I think if I did the math my salary works out to $45/hour today. I guess that is like getting minimum wage about every ten minutes.
