Fitness Checkups
#1
Ok.. after 2 months into the new year, how's everyone's fitness programs coming along? I know a few people were working to lose a bit of weight and get back in shape, so chime in and let's see how you're progressing!

Me personally, since the New Year, I've

- dropped 21lbs (and am now officially the lightest I've been in nearly 5 years.
- all major exercises have gone up 30-40lbs with weight training
- diet is mainly calorie counting and exercising...

Well its been an unofficial diet, kinda. Pretty much i've been avoiding fast foods (cept pizza once every 3 weeks) and junk food.

Don't know if I lost weight but hell i sure feel much better lately. No cravings, no depressionary states, and not as much grouchyness. I think its become more of a benefit to my psychological state rather than my physical state.

I don't feel as quite drudgenned at work and the day seems to go by faster.

Overall, its alright. Next thing is to cut my beer consumption from once a week to once a month.

Never really paid much attenetion to these threads until now.

Fat got be GONE!

But not yet.

As some of you may know, I am a diabetic. Not a raging diabetic, but an overweight type 2 diabetic.

Well it got the better of me last week an I had an episode and now it seems that reality has sunk in and it is now time in my life to get with a fitness and weight management program.

Going to see the doc this week when he calls and yells at me with my test results.

But that's it.

No more fat meford.

Have you thought about South Beach? One of the guys in my office is on it and has lost like 15lbs so far. He says the first 2 weeks are really s***, but worth it. I've been thinking about going on it too, but then I'll have to go to the *shivers* vegetable isle *shivers* at the grocery store.

you really have to pick something you can stick to... it's when people restrict their diets for quick weightloss that they run into the greatest problems maintaining. It needs to be something you can maintain over the long run.

You can still have pasta, grilled cheese sandwiches, and crappy food, but it's the moderation that leads to weightloss. (even though veggies are great for filling your gut).

Well I guess I am a raging diabetic. I am an insulin dependant type 1 diabetic. I take two insulin shots a day. I hardly ever test but I am very familiar with my body. I am 178lbs, I eat 3 times a day and I think my girlfriend keeps me in good shape.

As for new years resolutions. I didn't make any. I am happy being me. :D

Are you asking me or Oscar. Because I have not made a decision about what I am going to do.
A trip to the doctor will solve my many questions and his recommendations.
And I've tried and succeded on many diests only to put the weight back on.
No more of that.
I want to be realistically 250 by summers end.

I'm talking to the southbeach diet. I know it works, it works well because you're eating less calorie dense foods

fuckit... too much work right now to finish my sentence

I've started back with the weights, and weather permitting i'm gonna start jogging and playing more soccer than in the past. :) And of course, the usual mountain biking, and occasional rollerblading with the g/f.

I gained 2% body fat, but the last month ive lost it.

Ive been strictly lifting with the exception of basketball once a week.

I was 155lbs @ 16.10% BF, now 163 @ 16.87% BF...so i have gained some mass with out the fat, which i like. For the rest of march ill keep bulking, then go or a hard cut routine from april-june.

Maybe ill post a before and after phots.

Dont go with these fad diets. they are a waste of time. Eat less fat and sugar and processed foods, lift weights and cardio, and your good to go.
