I think the idea of honour killing/maiming of women because of the misinteruptation by some of a book to be one of the most disgusting "ideals" ever.

According to some of them a girl in one of those cultures could be raped and still killed out of honour (or burnt alive or doused with acid to purpously scar) or any retribution at all her family could imagine; that is sub-human behaviour in my mind. Then there is the whole "female circumscision" thing which is also repulsive.
