Bikes can make all kinds of power without being obnoxious, it's just an image and stereotype they've embraced over the years. It's about time for that image to change a tad. I've sat on a 150WHP 2004 Yamaha R1... and it's nowhere near as loud as a lot of lesser bikes in North Bay. Scary for power, but not for sound.
Just like a car, you can tune it for stealthiness or for obnoxiousness. It's up to you.
