Despite all the respect I have for our soldiers and the work they do, I never really got the whole Highway of Heros thing... slapping a bunch of poppy signs with text too small to read at highway speeds doesn't seem to have the impact a highway of heros deserve.

That being said, I would think that if signs went missing, I doubt it's kids or punks doing it, but someone who'd have a vested interest in the signs...

Ie, I can tell you why people stole street signs such as "High St." or "Reserved for the Police Chief" -- as there's a purpose behind the prank.

So in this case, it could be family of the soldiers, or soldiers themselves... most likely not ill-meaning folk.
