Well, Solo is in the name because you are alone. You are not..."racing"

And it's not the same at all, there is a MUCH different strategy to racing. Sure you can learn to take the best apex in the corner in Solo, but when you are racing others, and there's a car in your apex line...it don't work too well.. :)
