Uh... wow. They must have sprayed the sandals with urethane or something that would make them super-slick.
Something just doesn't add up there... even if the roads were THAT smooth, their feet would still be taking one hell of a pounding from all the ground rushing under them at that speed. The instant buildup of friction from repeated contact and the heating of the surface of the sandal... think of what happens when a plane lands on a runway, and those wheels are allowed to move!
