And tires.

I used to be a pretty heavy Honda and Nissan fanboy for a while .. And generally with that crowd the consensus is.. CAI is for the look/sound, you get very little performance.

Air intake, Manifold and full exhaust will net you about 10 horse together. Maybe 15.

Tires are the biggest noticeable difference in performance, a good solid tire on a light rim will free up power, as opposed to making it, as less rotational mass etc.. As well as the tires themselves actually, you know, grip.

i/h/e bought + installed will cost around 1k depending on what you go. But budget about that if you want to go that route.. another 1k for tires/rims together to make your car look and handle better.

A decent suspension setup is about a grand, minus coilovers..

These are rough prices, you can get less, and much more.. Just depends on what you get and where you get it from -

IMO, upgrade some stereo parts, get some rims and tires, and call it a day. Wont get slack for any of that.

+1 to most of what he said...TIRES are the #1 biggest performance enhancing mod you can do to your car. Even on the stock rims. I'd put good tires on the car, replace the stock lightbulbs with Sylvania Silverstar Ultras, put Synthetic engine oil in the car once it's had more than 1 oilchange, and go from there.

MBRP is an awesome exhaust choice (had it on my 1st gen Foci, gonna get the axle-backs for my Mustang now), and in terms of the intake stuff...go with the Full out Cosworth D-power kits. I had an AEM CAI on my car which I ran year round without a bypass valve (which was optional), in rain, snow, etc. Never had a problem with pulling water into the engine, and I know I'm not the only person that did this on this website either.

But, like I said, lose the Continentals or Michel(spins) or Pirelli P6's, or whatever comes on your car from the factory, and get something better like a Bridgestone Potenza, or a Nitto Neo-Gen.
