Subaru's in general have never been about looks as K_OS already said. Some older Impreza's, recent Legacies are generally accepted as good looking cars, many including myself like the '04/'05' Impreza look but at the end of the day its 'function over form' like the people who own them.

The two I have owned two ('91 Loyale & '04 WRX) and they were truly outstanding machines. The things they are capable of is truly amazing and then there is the reliability/longevity.

I maintain my cars and keep them clean but they are not pampered by any means and I make them work damn hard. I will run them for 1000km/day for weeks on end and see the far side of 200 kph at the same time with a passenger and luggage. If that isn't enough, being a transcontinental guided missle is not what they are designed to be 'best' at but it really delivers.

The percent of repeat Subaru buyers is in the order of 92% last I heard. I will always own one.
