Actually VW is still selling TDI's, and as of next year they will have bluetech diesel engines like Daimler Chrysler.

not to mention it but the VW Lopo TDI gets round the 75 MPG. Jeramy Clarkson pointed that out several times on his test drive of the Prius, and on the Lupo head to head chalange.

have you ever read the fine print on WV site? TDI's are selling as 06 models still. IN US only i think. Bc 07 rules are very strick. They brought tons of 07 models and labeled them as 06's and selling them as a leftover cars. :)
Here is the claim from VW.com site " **Volkswagen TDI models are equipped with a diesel engine and are not available in ME, VT, MA, NY or CA. APR offer good on select 2006 models. Offer ends May 31, 2007. Limited inventory. "

Also on the Vw.com site you can not find 07 TDI's anymore. I guess canada will follow soon, but hopefully the new Diesel engines will come from europe. I know MB has some in the works and I think the Jeep is going to use one as well.

the VW is making a new line-up of TDI's. before it used to be 1.9 that they were putting in a Jetta/Golf now the 2.0 TDI (wich is availble now in Passat) is going to replace it. Thats what I was told at Volkswagen Villa - they expect them either in October this year or early spring '08

Yeah so for 2007 there is no Jetta, Rabbit or Beetle TDI models being sold by Volkswagen.

The 2008 Jetta TDI, Volkswagen developed a new 2.0-liter diesel engine that is clean enough for 50-state certification without the use of urea injection, which is no small feat. It does so by extensively treating exhaust gases with catalysts and particulate filters. The engine develops 140 horsepower and a robust 240 ft-lbs. of twist.

i think the new MB does inject the waste with urea injection, but i guess VW is going to do it differently.
