Sorry to hear about your dad. I know how frustrating it can be. My dad was diagnosed with diabetes about 4 yrs ago. On top of a plethora of other health problems. He's since had intestinal problems, a massive heart attack, 2 heart surgeries. He has a condition called Neuropathy, which is caused by diabetes. Basically all the nerve endings in the extremities begin to die off causing a pins and needles like pain. For my pops it started in his feet and he ended up at the point where he needs to use an electric scooter to get around, now it's begun in his hands.
He's 65 this year, looks 80. He went from a vibrant 61 yr old to a disabled old man almost overnight.
Don't let the doctors dick around with trying different meds to "See if it might work." That's what my family doctor did for 2 yrs or so to see what could be done for my dads high blood sugar. I kept telling my dad to get tested for diabetes but he would just argue telling me that I'm not a doctor. One of the specialists told the family that if he'd been diagnosed right away, he would've been fine and would never have had to retire early. After my pops dies someday, my sisters and I have decided that we're going to start a lawsuit against the doctor, we've all switched doctor's for ourselves.
