Your '05 has a long life filter that isn't seviceable, you have to replace the whole assembly. When you have the hood up, on the right hand side of the engine bay you will see a small indicator on the side of the box, when the engine is running, if the needle goes to the red then it's plugged and time to replace it -- the unit costs about $350 but luckily it lasts 100,000-150,000 km.

Not enormous amounts, but some, between 5-10HP. There is really no such thing as a cheap CAI unless you make it yourself. A few of us have Steeda SRI (Short Ram Intake) but they're pricey at $240.60CAD

Your PCM is your Powertrain Control Module -- the dealership can update the engine controls by "flashing" the computer that controls your engine. Since the 2.3L in the ST was somewhat new at the time there were a few software revisions made to the PCM that year; the sticker is just an indication to other dealers that the PCM caries a later revision than the car was originally built with.
