One thing I can say about the magnums is the fact they suffer from the stark hard plastics that scrach so very easily, not to mention it looks extremely cheap on the interior with or without the all the toys in there. Over all if you are looking to use this car daily for everything or on long hauls between places, you really need to be able to live with the hardness of that plastic in places you'd use often use when driving.
The Taurus X / Freestyle are virtually the same in the interior features, infact it's almost completely the same other then the addition of a few features in the Taurus X version for the 2008 & 2009 model years, over the Freestyle.
Utility wise, Yes a Dodge journey might be a good option for you as it is more car then SUV, and being designed and enginered in Germany it may not suffer as much as the out going magnum dose for cheap looking / feeling interiors.
Volvos are great for their ride comfort and handling, not to mention the resale value will always be there as it is a premium car company, so you will get what you pay for in a volvo, not to mention they make the safest cars on the planet.
Another option to think about could be the Mazda 5, and 6 Wagon they offer great value for the money and can hold a lot of stuff in them, plus if your thinking of gas prices the 5 would make sence, and if your looking for peppy, and a smooth ride with a sport feeling, then 6 Wagon with the V6 could be a good match.

I was the only member on this board with a Yellow Focus Sedan, and a 2002+ Euro Facelift on a sedan.
