But do you pay, as a taxable benefit or out of your gross pay, for your benefits (dental, LTD / Life Insurance, prescription drugs, etc) or are they part of that $55 figure?
If you're not seeing deductions for your benefits on your pay stub, then there's a rate that the company is covering, on your behalf, and that counts as a wage. You'd be paying for it, otherwise. Same for pensions into a DCPP or the other kind... can't remember the acronym.
If you're not paying for it out of your gross pay, it's a wage / benefit / cost to the company that can be factored in as part of an hourly wage.
