Hey,

So I talked to a guy at Dixie Ford today, and he quoted me $715, taxes in. That works out to be 715/1.13 = $632+tax just for anyone looking for pre-tax comparison.

Given I have the cash flow, looks like something I'll be getting as my back brakes need replacing regardless. Anyone know how much something like that would end up costing in just parts alone? Curious to see how much of an extra cost it would be.

There's two numbers you need to get from Dixie Ford in terms of Ford Racing parts, and if you don't talk to the right person you'll be misinformed.

The two prices are the kit price and the price to get it from the US up to Canada a.k.a. "shipping from US" price.

In any event, you may want to check your sources at Dixie Ford ... I just got off the phone with Sean (the Motorsports parts expert there) and here's what he confirmed:

M2300SVTR (rear SVT set) = 770.00 + 135.00 shipping = 905.00 + taxes = 1022.65

M2300SVTF4 (SVT front conversion) = 854.00 + 195.00 shipping = 1049.00 + taxes = 1185.37.

I'm all in favour of everyone on here sharing information to help us all get the best prices on stuff - ... but if you're going to do that please take the time and effort to get your info right.

Time and time again I see posts that say "oh yeah, you can get it for such and such a price at [insert name here]" only to find in one phone call that the info is either outright incorrect or at best incomplete.

For example, quoting a price in US dollars without determining the extra shipping, duty and taxes etc is next to useless.

Now ... I don't know how you came to believe that you can get an SVT rear brake kit for 632 + taxes at Dixie, but it simply isn't true ... and if someone quoted you that price and they are willing to live with it, I'd say buy a dozen right now.

And finally ... I like Dixie Ford parts and I like the fact that they support the SVTOA and that they support Ford Racing parts ... I have the utmost respect for the Hogans and everyone who works there ... but that doesn't change the fact that, for me, they are exceptionally expensive compared to pricing in the US.

And so to that point, here's what I can sell the exact same kits for, importing them from the US myself and making a small profit to boot (and yes, it's higher than my price in post #1, but that was from August last year and the exchange is considerably different now.)

M2300SVTR = 739 CAD including taxes etc (that's a savings of 284.00 or 27%)

M2300SVTF4 = 865 CAD including taxes etc (that's a savings of 320.00 or 27%)
