I hit 175 in the SPI on the way back from Oshawa to Toronto once (remember that convo, Kev? :P ) but that was with a few mods - intake, exhaust, 50% crank UDP. Otherwise, not sure I would have made it there. It got backed down about 10 KM/H and then started to creep up again.
In the Escape? Sufficiently quick enough to overtake 407 traffic ;) No governor hit yet.
They're putting a lot of backyard racers at risk here, as well as the larger elephant in the room of insurance on your motor vehicle while at the track - does it have it? Do you need to produce it at the time you pull into the pit for inspection? Can you have a "track vehicle" with insurance and no plates? What nice new revenue stream does this create for the auto insurance industry?
If amateur racing faces enough hurdles as to make participation unwieldly at best, I think a lot of amateur racers will be driven away from the sport. That can't be good for all forms of racing in Canada in the long run.
