I know Vicki, Brian. I'm one of several guys in North Bay who helped her found her yearly car shows. I got out when it got to be more about the prizes and cash and less about the food bank.
She's also in Toronto now, or Vaughan, or wherever, but she parachutes in each year to play temporary North Bayite to keep winning the goodwill of the community.
In reality, she could hand off the show to whoever but she insists on clinging to it. She and I also got into it about the prize money coming from the entry fees instead of the majority of the cash going to the food bank. She now says that OK Tire bank rolls the winning prizes. Seeing as we can't see the "books", there's no way to know for sure.
It's just another venue now for 20 million out of towners to show up and collect the prizes. True, some of the hardware goes to some of the local guys, but some of these cars are WAY beyond what we have here. It just makes you wonder, really.
That's why I walked.
