I guess you dont have to, but if its going to lessen the pain then I would do it. Im not sure exactly how much it helps....I just do what I was taught from my father & the zoo.

I think there's a bit of contradictory info out there.. though, I'd go with what the zoo taught me, since they should know, right? If the needles aren't under pressure, and it makes no difference, it still doesn't hurt to take the extra precaution.
