Dayton 3/4"
These are the ones I'm looking at right now, they are more aesthetically pleasing, and they will cover the top end better. Price went up because they are selling well though.
Neo* planar transducers
These are in my kickpanels, they are about 6mm thick. They are extremely clear and basically distortion free. Also they draw very little power. Price has gone up since I got them 4 years ago
Peerless 1"
This is the tweeter I'm using now. The price has jumped drastically so I would buy the Dayton over it. Usually with PE when things sell well the prices go up. The trick is to jump on a deal before it becomes a popular choice. A while back the 7" drivers I use were selling for $15 each... sorry I missed that one :(
As for replacing your mids, you just have to look for a speaker with a large frequency range. Coaxial drivers are most popular and you can grab them almost anywhere. There are a few places online that sell the OEM speakers like the ones the focus comes with stock for about $.25 each
