Well...let's see...where to begin...
Got the car into the shop 8am this morning...car was on hoist and had it's wheels off 10 mins later. The rear swaybar was pulled off, and the rear shocks and springs were starting to be pulled off.
Observation #1...no bushings on the Dynamic shocks...hmm, never seen a shock come without those before...yes, I know that some of YOU knew this already, but it's dumb all the same to reuse old ones...
Observation #2...The nut for the top of the new shock was the wrong size, so we had to use other ones available.
After MacGyvering the bushings to fit, and putting the shocks on, time to put on the springs...those at least go on without a hitch. So, onto the rear swaybar...
Observation #3...The bushings SHM gave me, were for the OEM swaybar, and not the new bigger one....and the bigger ones were AT SHM (where I had to go to later to get them).
So, by this time I'm more than displeased with how un-seamless this job was, and I got on the Phone and bitched at them, which really accomplished nothing in the long run...
At least the front struts and springs went together ok too. So now that both ends have springs and shocks on, we put the stock swaybar back on the rear (good thing we left the front one alone), so that I could drive back to SHM to change the bushings. When I got there, they had them waiting for me, but they expressed no interest in doing anything extra for me after the screw-up. I brought the car home and installed the rear swaybar myself, so now I'll have to take the car into the shop on the weekend to get the front one changed and to get the 4-wheel alignment done.
Ok, so now onto the good news...This suspension kit RULES!!! The spring and dampening rates are fantastic (feels like an English Ford now), the steering is pretty fast, even without the front swaybar replaced too. The car rebounds nicely, but the best part is, it still rides almost as smooth as before. Yes, I know that the car will take some time and milage to settle, but so far both myself, and my dad, and my Grandad are quite impressed with the car.
Anyways, this post is getting friggin big...I'll give some more feedback when the car is 100%...
