I have tried many decks. I have tried the Pioneer DEH-670P, Pioneer DEH-770MP, Alpine 9815, and Eclipse 5425. So far my favorite out of all of those decks is the Pioneer DEH-770MP. That deck is loaded with features, 3 4V preouts (front, rear, sub), and it comes with some nice background displays one of which is a volt meter.
when you said that your pioneer would change contrast every 15 seconds....well you do know you can turn that off in the settings right? Both the 670 and 770 I had did that by default from the factory however with the 670 you had to have the deck off and go into function mode (where you adjusted the time and such) and disable that feature. The 770 was all done through the onboard menu system.
