I Hope They Don't Screw This Up

Hollywood, get new ideas.  This really doesn't interest me anymore, all of these "superhero" movies.

Good superhero movies:

- Spider Man
- X-Men
- Batman Begins
- Batman
- Blade

Bad superhero movies:

- The Hulk
- Daredevil
- Catwoman
- Elektra
- The other Batman movies
- Blade 2
- Blade Trinity
- Fantastic Four

As for this movie, this is probably gonna be added to the bad pile.

I'm like c'mon.  Nothing is original anymore in Hollywood.  For christ sakes, they're making another Rocky and Rambo.

What's next, Demolition Man 2?  Screw that!  Screw you Sylvester Stallone.

You're obviously not a comic fan. Not every movie is done to the taste of everyone in the general public. If they did, not one fan would come to the movie, and then their comic sales would plummet.

On the other hand, they can't stay perfectly loyal to the comic. Even though the big guns like X-Men, Spiderman, Batman, and others have millions of loyal fans worldwide, there just isn't enough pull for them to make a profit without appealing to a broader base.

X-Men was great, a true "jumping off" point for moviegoers to get introduced to the X-Men. X2 was even better, even if the title sucked ass.

Spiderman was the same - great as an intro movie, and the second one was better now that they had established the characters with the general public.

I thought Hulk was great, personally... except for the ending... Ang Lee's existentialist BS can take the long walk off the short pier.

Some were a lower-budget attempt at greatness, like Daredevil and Elektra. Blade 2 sucked, I agree. I thought Trinity was a great way to close it, if nothing else. Batman wasn't all that great... they spent too much time with the Batmobile and not enough on character development. Then again, it was a classic intro movie.

Fantastic Four - it could have been better. At least they preserved the "family" persona of the Four. Batman Begins is what the original Batman should have been. I'm glad they made it the way they did.

If you want a perfect example of a movie that was not even close to its roots... Doom. The weapons were right, the rest was pandering crap to those who didn't want Hell brought into it, and the FPS-esque scene was 2 minutes too long.
