Well if he didn't die in that.. that's a good ad for Honda safety.
The Civics run at Mosport (and other events like the Toronto Indy (--> 'Toronto Champ Car Grand Prix' from now on), Montreal GP, etc) and Victoria Day weekend I had one smash rear-end into the tires at the bottom of Turn 1. There was nothing left of the trunk but the rest of the car was ok. As you can see in the pic above, Civic trunks are a major crumple-zone. Remember that if you ever see a riceboy with NOS in the trunk.. KABOOM!!
