6x8's arent crappy....and not everyone wants to fork out the money for components...
I have heard some very excellent 5x7 and 6x8 by boston, JL, Clarion....etc.. and I wouldnt even begin to say 'crappy'
That being said...I wouldnt go back to a 2-way or 3-way speaker again..but I've just progressively moved on with my system....
I rocked my alpine 5x7's for 2 years..
