For my personal car I still prefer manual transmissions and would miss them if I were without and I'm 43. In all my years of driving I think I had an automatic for myself only once for about a period of a year. I felt like it was not my car and I was driving a rental.
On the other hand for family vehicles you are pretty much limited to automatic cars.
