#1
Sebastien loeb took the Rally in Spain today tying Marcus Gronholm with 2 wins each this season. Loeb leads the drivers standings, however, with 26 points. Gronholm follows with 21. Ford is also in 2nd place behind Citroen with 4 poins separating the two teams.

R.I.P. Jörg Bastuck 1969-2006

On the second stage of the rally, the car of German J-WRC debutant Aaron Burkart and Jörg Bastuck went off the road, landing down a bank. Driver and co-driver were unhurt in the accident but while endeavouring to make repairs to their car, a second vehicle left the road on the same corner, hitting Bastuck.

Bastuck was airlifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Jörg Bastuck was 36. Jorg was born in the German town of Dillingen an der Saar, not far from the current home of the OMV ADAC Rallye Deutschland.

Married to Monika, he combined a career as a graduate social education worker with a passion for rallying. Raised in a motorsport family, he started his rally career in 1988 as a driver before switching to become a co-driver in 1996. He contested the German round of the WRC on three occasions, claiming 37th overall and fifth in class with Lars Mysliewietz in 2002 as his best result.
