I'd love to do wheel-to-wheel racing, but the costs involved pretty much keep me out. However, now that I'm moving up to Barrie, I've discovered there is Ice Racing up in Minden.
Looks right up my alley. I outright won the Ice Solo series in Ottawa in 1999, and I've only improved since (well, on pavement anyway). And ice racing is way cheap. Also, you only need a basic CASC-OR competition license. No complicated and expensive racing license needed.
The first race is in January, so I'll have to get to work.
I'll be needing a car first. If anybody sees something cheap, light, FWD, and running for less than $500, please let me know. I prefer something like a Fiesta or Escort.

Should have thought about that before I sold the Tercel!! It could have been a nice project car :)
Does a shorty anntena count as a mod??

Rob, you should of got Anthony's (focused) Fiesta.
But anyways, i will keep my eye open for it. I know my dad has an Eagle summit SW for 400 :), but i dont think it will make it to track, yet alone racing :):):)

i looked at this briefly, seems like the car needs to have some safety equipment like roll cage put in? i guess you'll do that all yourself anyway

A friend and I were just discussing the same thing. We were at mosport this weekend and the motor went south so we packed up and watched from corner 3. He mentioed that we should do some ice racing and wanted to do it cheap, the car he's running is costing a crap load to run and maintain at the moment. We are still trying to work the bugs out. But ya it sounds like fun. So we are also currently looking for something for 500 bucks to run
