mine would not fit his car as mine is a sedan kit, not a kit for the hatches as the rear lip is smaller for the ZX3/5s

They won't fit fella. The Euro MKII Focus is wider.
Your 2005 front end is based on the MKI Focus body structure and not the MK!!.
