Not all Ontario Ford dealerships are bad.

the one in Cambridge I hear is one of the best, along with in my exp Colony Ford in Brampton.
I was the only member on this board with a Yellow Focus Sedan, and a 2002+ Euro Facelift on a sedan.

In my experience the small town dealers are better. I try to stay away from the ones in or near Ottawa, and I make the 45 minute trip to the dealer in my home town (S.G. Wells & Sons). It helps that I know all the guys on a personal basis though. :D

I don't think this is a matter of bad service from the dealership... The service has been exemplary.. the people friendly and cordial... service isn't the issue.

It's inneptitude... or a form thereof... It simply boils down to the dealership not really knowing their stuff or making silly mistakes. They do make every effort to fix their mistakes tho.. so you can't fault them on poor service.

The wheels are dealer options (ford accessory catalog). take what you want out of that, but I'd be giving a hard time to any shop who sold me wheels without telling me of any compatability issues with the car. I didn't have a copy of the owner's manual or service manual with me, so I couldn't really predict the outcome prior...I had to rely on the assurances from the dealership.

And this is where my sales lady got it right. Before even ordering the wheels, she consulted with the parts and service department to ensure there wouldn't be any fitment or other issue. Doesn't mean they still didn't screw up tho...

Selling a set of wheels that results in perpetual safety equipment alarms is no better than selling a wheel with improper clearances.

And focused, if you had sold me wheels (even at half price) that caused the same issue without warning me, even after I've asked you specifically if there would be any issues, I'd be pissed at you too.

I think I will get this resolved to my liking... the straps (which are one time use... how stupid is that? ) and sensors come out to about $100/wheel. well, hopefully the inflated price they sell the wheels at will be enough to cover that... and the remounting and rebalancing. or they may get saddled with a set of wheels they'll never be able to sell...

moral of the story : Know your product.

Why would he want to disable that feature, when he bought factory option rims. If they're factory options he shouldn't have to disable anything.

Not only would it be a waste, it might also be dangerous.

My buddy the dealer drives an Escape Hybrid with the same pressure monitoring system.

There came a point this summer when the pressure sensors reached 40 degrees Celsius and they sent some sort of extreme error message to the ECU that made the vehicle undrivable -- when they tried to reset it (this is a dealer remember) something got fubared and they ended up having to replace the ECU.

So just "disconnecting" the system or the warning light probably isn't a good idea at all.

^^--- no to mention it's soon to be against the law.

Tire pressure monitoring equipment is becoming (or has already become) required by law and the dealerships are no longer allowed to disable the feature on new cars.

Based on that.. the shop is ordering in the parts, and I should be able to bring the car in sometime next week to get the sensors installed.

done and done...

now about that tint.....
