Power Locks Actuator Is Driving Me Nuts!
#1
Like every other Focus out there with power locks, when I touch my brakes the actuator locks the doors. However, now when I am driving (even after the doors lock) I get this *ticking* when I am coming to a stop with my foot on the brakes. I know it's the locks trying to activate (even though they are already locked). I also know this is a sign of other issues but is there any way to disconnect the lead from the brake pedal so it stops trying to lock?

I want to keep everything else in tact so I can use my alarm/locks.

I've tried to play the music louder but I know it's still there.

Read your manual, there is instructions on how to disable the autolock feature.

Well, I looked in the manual. I couldn't seem to find anything on how to disable it short of removing the fuse. It gives all sorts of other info.
Can you tell me in short how to do it or direct me to a reference guide?

Cheers!

Quote:To deactivate/reactivate the autolock feature using the power door
unlock control

You must complete steps 1-7 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait 30 seconds.

1. Turn the ignition to the 3 (ON) position.

2. Press the power door unlock control three times.

3. Turn the ignition from 3 (ON) position to the 2 (OFF) position.

4. Press the power door unlock control three times.

5. Turn the ignition back to 3 (ON) position. The horn will chirp.

6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will
chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long
chirp) if autolock was activated.

7. Turn the ignition to the 2 (OFF) position. The horn will chirp once to
confirm the procedure is complete.
