because I knew that a clean engine isn't enough to hide everything the tunertransformation guys screwed up... it was hard enough fixing the things that would break because it got wet with the hood DOWN.. imagine purposely getting wet that ball o' electrical tape

no thanks!

the stuff they did to my car really killed the love I had for it. It took nearly 2 years for me to just gain confidence in taking it on long road trips again. I was much better at keeping the car clean when it wasn't breaking my heart everytime I looked at it.

so the stang is a fresh start.. and I'm doing my best despite the efforts by certain parties contrary to my wishes (hello, tint guy, I'm talking about you!)

its still being installed right now. I have been waiting on my ECu to get back because mine was used, it didnt come with spark plugs, a couple of gaskets, a powerworks badge, and a couple of bolts.

irritatingly enough the 2 bolts that werent included were for the manifold to bolt up to the head, so i have to wait until they get there so I can finish what I am doing. the focus has gotten a nice little vacation from being DD'd though.

for me, a very novice mechanic, it took me about 14 hours start to where i am now. I have all the wiring done, I test routed the belt. all that needs to be done is bolting it properly down to the head, putting in the alternator, attaching throttle body/intake, and minor other things (spark plugs, etc) and its ready to be turned over. Ive test fitted the alernator 3 times so i could get the belt on properly, had to take it out so the bolts on the lower portion of the manifold can be put in properly.

Ford only put around 5 bolts in the stock manifold, but 9 bolt holes exist. the other ones are just capped off on the stock manifold. but yeah, sticking a cast 46lb blower on will change that for sure, so the bolts are class 10.9 and are impossible to find locally, so right now Im at the mercy of UPS.

but yeah, I studied the repair manuals and the pwoerworks instructions religiously for 1.5 weeks before starting it, and its been fairly straight forward, its a good piece of engineering right thur.

i tried to put the blower in without the engine being rocked forward. its a mistake, my tranny bolt had a bitch of a time getting out, so I tried without out, and scratched the valve cover up pretty nicely, thats why you see tape on it. but after rocking the engine forward, its not that difficult to do. I can do it myself (lower it in, so 2 guys isnt 100% necessary)

I havent rushed myself because I can use 3 other cars if I need to, but if you dont, dont rush it, or take more than the weekend off to do it.

the only problem I ran into was I didnt have a big enough wrench to take off the coupling that hold the EGR to its tube, and I didnt have an E8 inverted torx bit to remove the studs on the manifold/alternator. buy them, the E8 bit is $6, and the wrench was $18. in the powerworks guide, they say its 1 1/2 inch, but its smaller than that, so it was a waste of money IMHO

oh s***, i though they have to give like 15,000 and then tuner transformation just does everything, and they get deals, but for free, i would let them go to town, and fix it up later.

if you rock the engine forward, its not that difficult.

it involves a lot of unpluging, if you know how to do a CAi install, thats half your work. the other half is unplugging and removing bolts. they say the bottom middle bolt should be accessed from below, but I got it with the appropiate swivel from above. you dont have to remove the injectors / fuel rail, but I did. there is 1 sensor that was a PITA to both take out, and put in, and thats the Oil low pressure sensor. gotta get a mirror in there and figure out how to take it off, I ended up snapping half of the connector off that attaches to the block, but it slides right back on and doesnt move an inch.

it doesnt weigh much, so if you remove the bolt from the tranny mount, and just push the engine forward, its easy. (you dont need to take out the alternator to do it)

after I got the last bolt off, it just fell. so it shouldnt be that difficult

yes they did, they want you to re-use your fuel rail though.

its a full turn-key kit. in fact, I will be turning mine over in the morning!
