Eyes For Detail Needed

The headlight on the right is from a 2007 Mexican Focus and appears to have an integral driving light in addition to the turn signal.

Question is ... in terms of overall shape and size can you see any outward difference between it and the NA spec headlight we get.

I know the photo quality isn't the best but I can't see any difference in shape and size between these 2 headlights - which could mean some interesting possibilities for modding '05+ headlights.

I don't like the way the mexican light has a rounded end next to the grille. I'm not sure ours have that.

Also, the shape of the front bumber on the mexican model for some reason seems to have bit different shape.

Other than that?

It looks like it MAY fit.

they do look awefully similar.. but if anything, the lower inside corner seems to be a sharper corner on the NA light, and the hood/front bulge seems more pronounced on the 2007 mexican model.

neither of those differences seem to indicate possible fitment issues tho..

AD / DP - I think you're both right ... but here's the thing ... unless I'm badly mistaken the Mexican Focus is the same as in Europe - the bumper and the five-bolt wheels kinda point in that direction. Which makes the similarity in the headlights even more interesting. (Yeah I know - not exactly earth shattering, but it's a slow day for me)

I have been talking with a buddy of mine about these and i think that the Ford mondeo has a closer resemblance to the focus than the Euro Focus

That could prove really interesting Ken. A direct-fit, UK-spec headlight set would be really neat.

Now the wiring, on the other hand...

as long as it doesn't result in a whole generation of misaligned headlights blinding me from oncoming traffic, I'm all for the swap -- if it's feasible.

I'm surprisd that there is no aftermarket headlights for the 05+ yet.
I'm sure it's probably in devellopement, but waiting on more consumer interests maybe?

Yeah I've compared the two myself... wondering if the conversion would be overly difficult or not. It looks pretty damn similar... and as most said, only the cut closest to the grill looks much different. In that case, you would have to convert the grill/front end as well... what a shame eh? :P If you do decide to do this conversion... damn will it look incredible! I've seen the Mondeo's lights in person (actually, five days a week I see one from Mexico) and they're very similar to the euro Focus' headlights... incredible design, even nicer looking in person!

I'd rather have aftermarket tails for the 05+ The 05+ engine bay makes changing bulbs on a stock headlight assembly a pain in the ass. I'd be really scared that an aftermarket headlight would be worse

Well like I have pointed out a few times on here that the 05 - 07 Focus sedan can down grade it's tail lights to that of the 00 - 04, but to do this you'd have to change the trunk lid and maybe the rear bumper for the lines to meet up correctly. other wise you'd have the down sweep of the bumper ending at the 00 style of tail lights at more or less the mid point of them.

Pics yes, measurements, we'll see how many people are in the parking lot at the time. But I will definitely try and get some info for ya. I've parked beside that car numerous times, and we look like twins almost, on a slightly different scale of course.

Someone on the OTHER site tried getting the euro focus headlights into our north american headlights and said they were not the same.. So its very possible the mexican ones wont fit either. I'm not going to name the site either.
