Question About Brakes
#1
My girlfriend's Escort definitely needs some new brakes. The front rotors appear to be very warped. With a visual inspection, the brake pads seem to have a lot of beef left to them.

Can I get away with just installing a new set of rotors? They're only $26 each at Napa, so I won't bother getting the old ones machined.

Would installing them be relatively the same as doing Focus brakes? I did mine, and it was simple.

Disk brakes are pretty much simple across the board, some slight differences but nothing big.

I would spend the money on new pads when putting in new disks, you could potentially hurt your new rotors if you use the old pads.

If you want to save some money just sand down the pads smooth.....and round the edges just a little bit (takes away the squeeking)...but like the other I suggest just simply buy the pads. :D

this may be old, but I want to make sure that you understand that you need to change both sides of rotors. Left and right. Alot of people miss that and only do one side. Terrible stopping power.
