St170 Lighting Parts Needed
#1
Hey guys,

Anyways, bought a set of ST170 headlamps from the UK (ebay). I am missing the turn signal bulb holders and the back plates. Anyone have any ideas where I can find a source for these? From multiple threads I found the part #s for the wiring harnesses (vw parts). Thanks.

Well I am not 100% familiar with the sockets you require but I do know from experience that a good auto parts store will have access to turn signal sockets from most of the manufacturers. If you have not installed them in your car yet why don't you take one down to a good auto parts retailer and see if you can find one with the correct tabs to fill the hole. You will not be able to find these by application at a NAPA but you might be able to go thru the boxes and try until you find one.

I am not to sure about the plates, but good luck with your search and let us know how you make out.

Are you able to take some pictures of your ST170(back side)? The reason why I am asking b/c I still have few different euro spec bulb sockets at home. I bought the whole european spec rear lights harness with pigtail and bulb sockets for my european rear light. I only use some of the socket/pigtail and still have some left. Show me some picture and I will see is there any for your ST170.

I have those same headlights from Germany, but I will warn you now, UK Headlights are Illegal in Canada because the are aimed into traffic (RHD) and not with it like all LHD lights.

as for the sockets, they are a twist in style and have a long 1/2 cone shape coming out the back of them so you can twist them out. You can order the OEM Ford wiring part from http://www.european-parts.net for like $30 plus shipped, it's a lot easier to do it that way for the generic lighting set up as the plugs and wiring is there in the kit for you, unless you are hooking up the motors in the lights if they were included in the sale of your lights. I'll be doing that this spring actually... once I track down the headlight motors, as I already have the switch.

Is there anything that can be done about aiming the headlights to correct for the RHD version?

Buy the socket kit and some replacement plates from European-parts.net as others on here mentioned...you WON'T Find that stuff at any part store in Canada.

Also, Why the frick would someone sell/send you those lights without the plates to cover the back of them? You have to remove the battery and battery box to take the left one out of the car anyways without breaking it (I had to do this).

Hope you can get the stuff you need from Euro parts....

Thanks Black_ZTS for the effort, but those holders will not work. Also to the rest of you for the suggestions. I ended up calling BAT Inc. (wanted to avoid the whole overseas fiasco again) and they had the parts I needed. I ordered and it should be arriving soon. Now, to order the grilles and clear side markers and that should be it for this year :)

I just received that package from Sascha at Europarts.

The plate numbers are according to Ford: 2M51-13K060-AB
There is also another number. 1334938 and 1334939. Not sure what those numbers are. The socket number is 2M5A-13K370-AA.
Hope this helps.
The reason why you dont get the back plastic pieces in the UK is because if you buy these lights from Ford, They do not include them. You have to buy everything individually. I think thats pretty bad of the Dealership.
