Hints On Debaging My Focus
#1
i decided to debag the rear of my focus....

i heard its pretty hard to get rid of the glue stuff that hold the letters....
any "cleaner" stuff that would work good and not leave those shades after?

Goo Gone maybe?

let me know
thanks

Use fishing wire to get the letters off, then just peel the big chunks of glue off with your fingers and any of the residue that is left over use the goo gone on. Thats exactly what i did when i debadged the back end of my focus.

definatly the tried and true method... race gas... rag (don't scrub hard!) and water then clay bar it and wax... like it was never there... accept that the paint under the emblem hasn't under gone uv degradation and it looks darker... at least on a black car... LOL I had the ricest vynle EVER on my ride.. you'd never no,,, lol lemme find a pick

Use dental floss to remoce the badges.

Then goo-gone on a rag.

Presto!

I used a hair dryer to take mine off...it got the letters and adheisive plyable enough to peel off almost entirely.

Then, I used a small amount of Acetone on a rag, and wiped off an area a few inches LARGER away from where the letters were, along with where they were.

3rdly, applied liberal amounts of paste wax (turtlewax platinum) to the entire hatch, and blended in the areas...after about 3 coats, you would never know there had been a badge at all on it.

That's how I did it.

GOO GONE Should work just fine. The wax I was talking about is not the quick detail stuff, its the paste stuff that comes in that can and you dab some of it on a soft cloth and rub it in a circular motion and it will clean off the goop.

I went the Debadged look once, but it looked lame on yellow. but I used a hair dryer and it just peeled right off, and then used a little nail polish remover to get the rest of the crap off.

then I did this with a few Euro Badges, including the European Focus Badge on the other side.. for those that don't know about it.

Nick I still have a few " [Image: 000_0303.jpg] " badges left if you want one to replace the "ZTS" and "Focus" ones, since it seems like a few guys here in North America with the ZTS' like the Flight Badge alone on their car.
I was the only member on this board with a Yellow Focus Sedan, and a 2002+ Euro Facelift on a sedan.
