When we buy 17in rims is the tire size normally 215 45 17? Because I am looking at a set of rims from WheelsNEXT and they seem to be giving you 205 40 17!?!
How do you change the tire size you want on this site and how do you choose the brand of tire?

I think the gold would look awesome on my black ZX5! What do you guys think?
Thanks,

i have 205/40 R17 and i wouldn't recommend it.....too thin so u'll feel every bump on the road....+ u can scratch your rims on the out side really easy
go with 215/45

Yeah - doesn't seem to make sense.
The 17" tire that most closely approximates the stock 205-50-16 tire is in fact 205-4 5-17 ..... the circumference of a 205-40-17 is almost 2" smaller than the stock.
Circumference comparison:
205-50-16 = 75.62" (stock value)
205-40-17 = 73.69" (-1.93")
205-45-17 = 76.23" (+0.51")
215-45-17 = 77.34" (+1.72" - this is what I have)
215-40-17 = 74.68" (-0.94")
A 205-40 gives you a rather narrow sidewall. Personally, I wouldn't go with anything smaller than 215-40-17 or 205-45-17.

205/45/17 is closest to stock circumference for non-SVT.

205/45/17 i think is an odd size.. you might be limited in the tires you can use.. i'd go with 215/45/17..

The factory supplied 17's (SVT) come with 215/45/17. That's what I'm running, and have no problems.
I agree that 40 series is too harsh for everyday driving, and not enough buffer for potholes (potential for bent rim)

OK 215/45 17s it is. But I am still on the look out for rims. I am looking for a light rim 20lbs or less in black with a chrome or silver machined lip any suggestions?
This is my favorite style of rim.
