I actually like the 04-05 models much more than the facelift on the 06. With andrea, its the opposite, she likes the 06 much better than the 04-05....it is really her car, so she's the one that needs to be happy about it.

I have a buddy who has a 2006 STi with the 2.5L - I'd take the fatter torque curve over the arguably "prettier" body any day :D Considering he has it tuned and turbo-back exhaust-fitted, it REALLY hauls ass. Such a sweet ride.

great buy that machine really loves mods throw a nice 3' exhaust and that thing is a totally different car my buddy dropped a whole second on a 1/4 mile with just headers and exhaust

Good choice! I wasn't crazy about the revised styling of the 06 when it first came out, but now thats my favorite model Imprezza. Plus how can you go wrong with more displacement/torque and larger brakes over the previous 02-05 model years?

:lol: i came REAL close to purchasing a catless uppipe, turboback exhaust and aftermarket EM all at once after i got my bonus last month but i realized that was teh dumb (keep it stock and mod by buying another car (or bike) right ?!?!?!?! :ph34r: ) so i forced myself to keep my own advice ... i was going to purchased used parts locally from forum members
you saw my older post about '06 WRX having a closed loop open loop delay (requires aftermarket EM asap) and boost creep issues when modded (requires mechanical fix). to tell you the truth i dont know much about the 2.5L turbo... on the 2.0L '04/'05 WRX the aftermarket EM was very important because even in 100% stock form the EGTs would really spike because of the closed/open loop delay and people reported stock cars getting bad deto even with 93 octane. i owned a '04+ WRX this would be the first thing i would research, and i would break with my keep it stock mentality because i think this is an engine safety issue
the other random stuff that i know of that you might find helpful.. i believe those 4pot non STi calipers are the same that were used for the turbo 300ZX, so you have access to a ton of aftermarket brake pads.. the rotor size is the same as the '02-'05 WRX.. i believe the uppipe in the '06 is already catless so you dont need to change it... also, i've heard that the '06 exhaust is the same part as the STi exhaust (just no STI logo.. but i am not 100% sure about it)
