Sticking Throttle
#1
Hey guys,

Just today my stock throttle body started sticking. It stays at 4k, and giving it gas does nothing. I tried pulling the actual pedal back to the idle position, and it doesn't seem stuck or anything.

Now the bad news, my hood is frozen so I can't even look into the problem.

Any suggestions when I can get under the hood?

The release spring? Or could it be cable related?

i had this problem a while ago, all that happened is the throtle cable moved on the inside of the hood so the cable is at a greater bend then it should be causing it to stick, just pop the hood open and look near the top and you will see how the throttle cable looks out of place

I looked on FJ, and it sounds like more of a TPS sensor problem than the actual cable. Because the actual pedal has movement when its "sticking". So I don't think its a cable problem. I looked into it this morning (hood unthawed) and cable placement seemed find.

Thanks though.

Kennedy Ford replaced my throttle cable under warranty, but when it gets really cold (under -5) it still sticks a little on initial contact pressure.
Old enough to know me limit, yet young enough to exceed it.
