Inboard/outboard Camera System
#1
I'm trying to figure out what mounts to make for some cameras.
I have a 4ch. quad, which means 4 cameras. I had figured on making mounts to watch;
driver/speedo/steering;
front of car, roof mounted or hood;
footwork, footwell;

After that I'm sorta at a loss for another camera shot. I can think of others, but they don't seem worthwhile enough to do.
Some of them are;
Driver or passenger door watching wheel/cones/curbs;
Back window;
Driver face shot;

Any suggestions?

I wonder if I could widen the speedo/steering out to include it. Is that a shot you'd want a fairly close shot of?

For the front one get it really low, like fog light hieght and have another front one shoulder height inside the cabin also facing forward.

When it comes to eidting: "star swipes" :lol:

The driver/speedo/steering mount could incorperate a second cam. It will clamp onto the headrest posts. Maybe I'll make 2 one for drivers side and passenger.

I always like this setup myself...

-low on front bumper, as low as you can get it, "skimming the ground" shot

-interior from pass headrest looking at driver controls, shifter, focused on gauges and road ahead

-side door, once again, as low as you can get it to look at curbing, rims and whatnot, placed on side door that can film the cars you are passing or the cars passing you based on the track layout and suggested passing areas.

-rear roof or back window mount looking slightly down if possible but still afr enough back to see the cars coming up or being left behind

Do it like top gear does, mount it on the right or left side door focusing on the tire.
I drive a 2010 Golf that growls at people when it goes over 3000rpm.

rear bumper facing forward to catch length of car going around whatever you're going around, or right behind the front wheel.

2nd camera on your face from rearview mirror

3rd camera on dash/steering wheel

4th camera on the pedals.. .let's see that fancy footwork Tsuchiya!

Here's something to consider.
Cameras on the outside of the car are better suited for an AutoX.
Cams all on the inside would be better for driving around the city and industrial neighborhoods. They would also attract less attention.

I have enough feed back to start.

I really need to go make video with the Hi-8 again. It's a neat feeling knowing you're recording yourself for posterity - especially when you're well over the *cough* legal limit *cough*. :D
