As the title says I'm trying to gauge interest in a winter rims and tires group buy - we usually leave these things to the last minute and then they become unmanageable.
If the interest is strong enough I'll put one together - please post any comments about winter tire brands and timing etc ...

talking with my tire contacts, winter rims and tire should be bought early not lieing here ppl. Once there are gone they don't get produced untill the next manufacturing date. EX my Gerneral Exclaim UHP once every 4 year they are made in France. So buy if you need them.

Buy early, as my friend that works as a rep for Michelin said that since snows are mandatory now in Quebec, the manufacturers will be running out (the forecast for this years tires was done three years ago, before the law was passed).
Thankfully I bought new ones last year... :D

hmm If I did get winter tires + Rims it would more or less be for the Corolla, but I'll have to wait on that as I am spending my car & mod budget on the focus repairs at the moment....
And Forsure everyone is Right when they say the best time to get winter tires & rims are in June, July, & August.
I was the only member on this board with a Yellow Focus Sedan, and a 2002+ Euro Facelift on a sedan.

i have winters..
spent nearly $1000 but not worth anything from canadian tires..
slippery as hell..
when i get new focus, i will convert my current car to winter beater..
then i am buying good set of winter tires and 15" oz or td wheels..

need steelies for '07 stang and winter rubber.
wouldn't mind having the sensor bands, sensors also... (would just need to get a sensor programmer)

I have the Nordic from Cnd Tire and like 'em.
Got 4 of them in 16" form for about 290$ taxes in last year (spring '07).

The tires must have been really old stock lol. Or an adjustment from Nordic which in return CT would have paid maybe 15 a tire back from the supplier.

They were not old stock since they had just came out that year (well previous fall, so 6 months). They had a crap load of them at Cnd Tire. Everyone was getting Michelin X-Ice instead of these "new" tires. It was something like 40% off.

I just got the Cdn TIre flyer and starting Friday they will have Goodyear Nordic tires on SALE. $30-70 OFF a set of 4.
ie. p195/65/15 is now 91.49 (reg. 103.99)
p205/70/15 is now 88.99 (reg. 101.49)
Is this a pretty good sale or are we gonna see better one's later?
I'm actually thinking of getting ARCTIC CLAW by Cooper instead since they are slightly cheaper and reviews seem to be just as good as the nordics.

It might be tough to compare prices because apparently the Goodyear Nordic is only available through CTC ... earlier in the year there was a rumour going around that winter rubber might be in short supply this year because there's a new law in Quebec requiring all vehicles to have winter tires ... but I guess if CTC has them for a reduced price that's probably not a factor.
One thing you can count on though ... once the snow flies it will be less likely you'll see a sale.

I just got a quote for 4 arctic claw winter tires p195-60-15s with 4 15" steelies for $500 + tax. Is this deal ok little too much?
The tire alone are $77 a piece + tax....i think he's charging a little too much for the 15 inch steelies?

LOL same tire I just ordered for my GF's car from my cousins OK Tires shop $58.00 Cost price so ya its pretty good where you get from.
