Which Focus Models Exactly Have The Zetec?
#21
Hey Naz, we can get the 2.3 up here. Just not in a hatch back or wagon. Only in a sedan.

This is off http://www.ford.ca

Anyone else confirm this? I went through all the trim models and looked at their engine specs. Only the sedan listed a 2.3 litre engine.

Model Year 2005

3-door Hatch

ZX3 S - Duratec 20 136hp 2.0L DOHC 16 valve I-4 engine with SMPI
ZX3 SE - Duratec 20 136hp 2.0L DOHC 16 valve I-4 engine with SMPI

5-door Hatch

ZX5 SES - Duratec 20 136hp 2.0L DOHC 16 valve I-4 engine with SMPI

Sedan

ZX4 S - Duratec 20 136hp 2.0L DOHC 16 valve I-4 engine with SMPI
ZX4 SE - Duratec 20 136hp 2.0L DOHC 16 valve I-4 engine with SMPI
ZX4 SES - Duratec 20 136hp 2.0L DOHC 16 valve I-4 engine with SMPI
ZX4 ST - Duratec 23 151hp 2.3L DOHC 16 valve I-4 engine with variable valve control, variable intake length, SMPI

Station Wagon

ZXW SE - Duratec 20 136hp 2.0L DOHC 16 valve I-4 engine with SMPI
ZXW SES - Duratec 20 136hp 2.0L DOHC 16 valve I-4 engine with SMPI

Now this is based on STANDARD EQUIPMENT options from ford.ca I am unsure if you are able to upgrade engine packages, so it seems outta the box and off the webpage the only focus in Canada that COMES with a 2.3 litre is the ZX4 ST sedan.

So from Nick's info, the 2001 SE Wagon all came with Zetec? I'll have to check that out.

Most of the ones on the trader are CHEAP, hub caps, no fogs..I figured no Zetec.

Yeah Tony, the ST sedan is the only model for 2005 to get the 2.3L so far.. seems like a really stupid move not to make an ST hatch, or at least an option to get the 2.3L in the SES model hatch or something.. I guess they want to sell people sedans. We'll have to wait for next year or for the new SVT (whenever they bring it back) to get something with more performance in the hatch.

According to FOC Order Guides

For '05 really simple
All but ZX4 ST = Duratec 20
ZX4 ST = Duratec 23

For '00 to '04 it's also pretty simple:
ZX3, ZX5, ZTS, ZTW = Zetec standard
All others = SPI standard
The "Sport" package and the "Street Edition" package on SE both added the Zetec
BTW: for '01 ZTW was an option package on SE wagon that also added the Zetec
2008 Fusion SEL MTX - DD1 * 2009 Fusion SEL - DD2 * 2007 Focus ZXW - R*I*P * 2004 Focus ZTW CD Silver - sold * 2004 Focus ZTW Black - sold * 2003 Focus ZTW Black - sold * 2001 Focus ZTW Gold - sold * 2000 Focus SE Wagon (ZTW option) - Black - sold * 2000 Focus SE Wagon (ZTW option) - Gold R*I*P

2003 Focus ZX5 infra-red Track Rat - R*I*P
2003 ZX5 CD Silver Track Rat - retired, but still in the driveway

New track rat: 2000 ZX3, Atlantic Blue * JRSC with lots more to come

* New Zetec crate motor - NFG - thanks Topspeed *
