hey
i have a 2000 focus zx3 and it has been lowered 1.5". I currently have 205-40-zr17 wheels and was wondering if i would be able to fit 215-45-zr17 on my car. i know that the svt focus took the 215 size so i was curious. Thanks

well your speedo would be reading 1.7% too slow
So 60km/h you would really be going 61km/h

Hmmmm not really ... the tires he has now was never a stock size ... so the speedo error would have occured when he put them on ... by moving to a 215-45-17 which is the stock SVT tire size, he will in fact be putting the speedo back to stock.

205/40/17 is very close to the stock 15" wheel and tire dimension but still puts the speedo out by 0.5%, going to 215/45 will put it out even more but if he has an Xcal2 the size of wheel can be changed within the programs meaning, making everything about the speedo correction moot.
and don't think that you would have a problem with fitting 215/45 on your car, believe that the SVT sit 1" lower than a ZX3.

I'ts possible that that my math could be off ... but my numbers don't jive with yours ... here's how I figure the various Focus tire circumferences:
195-60-15 = 76.05"
205-50-16 = 75.06" (-0.59% compared to 15)
215-45-17 = 77.32" (+1.67% compared to 15)
205-40-17 = 73.67 (-3.13% compared to 15, -4.72% compared to stock 17)

205-45-17 is identical to stock for non-SVT focus. I have been on those for a number of years with a 1.5 drop.
